Privacy Policy & Cookie Notice

Effective and last updated: October 7, 2026

Important: Celiac Check is an informational barcode-screening tool. It is not medical, allergy, nutrition, or food-safety advice. Always read the current package label, allergen statement, certifications, and cross-contact warnings.

What this policy covers

This policy explains how Celiac Check handles information when you use our website and barcode-screening tool.

Camera and barcode information

Camera video, photographs, and audio are not uploaded to or stored by Celiac Check. Barcode recognition happens in your browser. When you submit a barcode for a product check, the barcode number is sent to Celiac Check and then to Open Food Facts to retrieve product information. Celiac Check does not retain scan-history records on its application server.

Browser storage

We use essential browser storage on your device to remember your Terms of Use acceptance and cookie choices. If you use the scanner, your browser may also store recent checks locally. These recent checks stay on your device until you clear them through Cookie Settings or clear browser storage. The consent record stays until you change it, clear browser storage, or we issue a new legal version.

Technical and security information

Our hosting, security, and content-delivery providers may process technical information needed to operate and protect the website, such as IP address, browser and device data, request time, and security logs. Do not submit health details, payment information, passwords, or other sensitive personal information through this tool.

Cookies, analytics, and advertising

Celiac Check uses Google AdSense site-connection code to support AdSense account and consent-message setup. No individual ad placement is active in this release. Google’s European regulations message is used for visitors in the EEA, the UK, and Switzerland where required. Analytics and Advertising are separate optional choices in Cookie Settings and are off by default. Optional personalization is not offered by Celiac Check itself because the current service does not use it.

Before an individual advertising placement or analytics technology is activated, we will update this notice to identify the provider, purpose, and applicable retention information. Where required, we will use a consent platform that meets the applicable regional requirements. We do not currently sell or share personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising.

Third-party information

Product information is obtained from third-party sources, including Open Food Facts. We do not control, audit, endorse, or guarantee third-party information. Product labels, recipes, ingredients, certifications, regional versions, and manufacturing practices may change or be incomplete.

Children

Celiac Check is not directed to children under 13. A parent or guardian should supervise a child’s use.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy when the service, privacy practices, or applicable law changes. Material changes will be posted on this page with a revised effective date.
